An Introduction to Beginning Blacksmithing

Instruction will include:

Some historical aspects of Blacksmithing

bullet

All basic techniques needed to make 3 or 4 simple projects to take home

bullet

Basic tool nomenclature

bullet

How to buy tools and set up your own shop

bullet

Actual hands-on forging work to create finished projects

bullet

16 hours of instruction (8 hours per day)

bullet

Techniques and materials for students with little or no experience

bullet

Each student will have his own workstation with all necessary tools

bullet

All supplies and materials are furnished and there are no extra charges

Cost of the two-day workshop:

$200.00 per student for 16 hours of instruction and all supplies

Lodging:  There is a Bed & Breakfast located in the Village of Bentonsport:  www.MasonHouseInn.com

A campground with electrical hookups is located on the river near town

Food is available in Keosauqua and Bonaparte

A variety of shopping and recreational opportunities are available within the county if you choose to bring family members

Workshops will be held in the Blacksmith Shop behind Iron & Lace in Bentonsport National Historic District
